Training session “Rehabilitation” for representatives of baby homes from Eastern Ukraine began

On March 13, 2017 the first training on rehabilitation of children with special needs for representatives of baby homes from eastern regions of Ukraine was conducted.

Experts of Kharkiv regional specialized baby home # 1 Julia Alimova, Irina Gordienko, Tetyana Teliha, Marina Kobzina and Victoria Turenko will share their knowledge and experience in rehabilitation field within next five days.

During the training participants analyzed ways of providing rehabilitation services to child and family on the particular example. Employees of different baby homes practiced in clarifying and harmonizing the parents’ request, found out how to ask questions to identify and explore problems. Also the participants studied how to determine the level of physical development of children; they identified the role of the environment in the child’s development. Furthermore audience acquainted with effective communication strategies with children.

The training session is conducted under the Project “Creating a new model of family-and-community oriented services for children with special needs” supported by the United Nations Children’s Fund (UNICEF).
